Makeup Artistry

The heart of Boss Beauty Makeup Academy is our makeup artistry program; we have spent a great deal of time and research to create a lesson plan that we feel gives our students the best makeup education possible. We have developed a curriculum that gives our grads the right tools to succeed in any part of the makeup industry that they choose to purse. Our students are taught the techniques that will prepare them to do makeup for freelancing jobs, music videos, films, TV shows, magazines, fashion, and all forms of print media. Our goal is for every graduate to leave the program with confidence in their skills, ready for the real world of makeup artistry.

Fundamentals of Makeup

  • Setting up your station: sanitation and tools of the trade
  • Skin preparation and type, corrective makeup and eyebrow shaping techniques
  • Foundation, concealers, undertones, foundation mixing and matching
  • Eye shadow application, natural look and cat eye application
  • Eye shadow placement, blending techniques, classic eye vs. glam
  • Blush application
  • Understanding bridal makeup and lip color application
  • Shimmer & matte colors: when and where to utilize them
  • Men’s makeup and mature makeup application
  • Understanding makeup through the ages; technique and application for each era
  • Advanced blending techniques
  • Working with bright colors and understanding color combination
  • Understanding couture and avant-garde
  • Working with different mediums, glitter, pigments, paint etc.

Our class time is spent with the instructor providing lecture and a demonstration on the items being covered, followed by plenty of time for students to practice hands-on. The instructors are there during the practice time to answer any questions students may have, and they provide suggestions on improving technique. Providing a thorough and well taught curriculum is our main focus in the classroom.
